We care who we do it with: We want to work with people who have similar values to us and acknowledge and respect ours; like-minded professionals, craftspeople and clients.
We are courageously creative: Never afraid to be bold in our designs or to challenge expectation if we feel there is a reason to.
We are continually curious: We always try to be inquisitive and know that there is always something to explore or learn. This allows our minds to always be open and never become stagnant.
We seek Joy in our designs: We want our projects to bring joy to all the people involved with them.
We seek joy in our relationships: We aim to have strong, positive relationships with our team, clients and the many collaborators we create homes with.
Wherever possible we follow a Collaborative Craft concept for our design work which helps creates warm, tactile, and lovingly hand crafted environments.We strongly believe that collaborating with the craftspeople and tradespeople that assemble the spaces we so meticulously design and curate, results in something more dynamic and rich than the component parts.
Collaborative Craft is also more than a design philosophy. We believe that using special skills and traditional crafts in contemporary architecture helps to maintain and promote unique industries and skill sets that sustain some of our most interesting and diverse communities.
Our process values time spent establishing the aspiration at the beginning of this once in lifetime opportunity. While your project will be driven by you, we bring to the table some of our own principles and values, some of which are below:
Light is our muse. We strive to catch it, control it and redistribute it through our spaces. Light is a dynamic medium - constantly changing - moving every day from east to west and each day a different path. In some respects light is life itself, and the most important component of all our work.
Connection: We exist in space. That only has meaning because of its relationship to the other spaces that surround it. This is true on a macro level and a micro level. We believe the connection our spaces have with their surrounding environment is fundamental to the creation of place. Your space is your existence. Equally the relationship of one space to another has the potential to create a more rewarding experience than the spaces in isolation, striving for that synergy between spaces; through spacial sequence and connection is a key design principle for us.
Texture: We enjoy working with raw materials in their natural form. It allows them to portray unique qualities and textures. Texture encourages touch, and interacting with your building is important as it humanises space. Raw materials connect us back to nature in an ever increasingly manufactured environment. Uniqueness further enhances identity.
